  • Al Mohler leaves the radio, but will begin a new podcast in September.  Lessons learned…
  • Is technism the solution to our problems?  John Dyer says “no.”  I agree.
  • John Bloom is concerned about ministry and money.  Not the use of the money, but the desire for it.  He suggests that the grace of Christ we have received should produce a number of resolutions for the way we do ministry.  Consider this one:

Let us resolve to endure anything in order to remove obstacles to the gospel. And since the love of money has shown itself in the New Testament and throughout the church age to be a deadly obstacle, let us seek as much as possible to make the gospel free to the world.

Yes, the constant arrival of information packets can be distracting or addictive, especially to people with attention deficit disorder. But distraction is not a new phenomenon. The solution is not to bemoan technology but to develop strategies of self-control, as we do with every other temptation in life. Turn off e-mail or Twitter when you work, put away your Blackberry at dinner time, ask your spouse to call you to bed at a designated hour.

  • We believe that the wages of sin is death.  I recently read a couple articles that affirm the deadly wages of pornography, one from a secular perspective as well as a Christian perspective, “This is Your Brain on Porn.” For this and every sin, we do well to remember the redeeming work of Christ who has paid the penalty of God’s wrath for any pornographer who will believe and who provides freedom from pornography to every pornographer who believes.
